My sketching and painting kit
This is even more than I really need for a day of sketching. I’ll lighten my ‘load’ before I go out for the day of sketching and painting in Tuscany and surrounding areas. Three palettes may be a bit too much even though they are quite small and cute!

Handmade Sketchbooks are ready!
I made 2 sketchbooks for this trip. They are filled with hot pressed 90lb watercolor paper and some other kinds of papers good for drawing with ink. My goal is to fill one a week. I already started one when we all got together to practice drawing on location. The third one (on the bottom) is for Bulgaria. After the workshops we will continue on to see our daughter, Patrice and James there. I started this sketchbook during our last visit. Can’t wait to start filling these!

My brushes and pens are packed for Tuscany!
I am gradually getting my supplies together. Here are my brushes and pens. I have a few more things to add but not much. I know I said I’d show you my sketchbooks next but you’ll have to wait until tomorrow!

Tuscany, here I come!
Once again it is time for me to teach a workshop in Tuscany! I have prepared my mini palettes. They’re filled and drying out for travel. Have I ever told you I have a mini palette addiction? This should be plenty for the two week workshop! I’ll show you my sketchbooks next.

My Exhibit!
Tiny Tropical Treasures
June 6 – July 7, 2018
June 6 – July 7, 2018
OPENING RECEPTION - Meet the Artist
Studio 5 Gallery
Saturday, June 9, 6-9pm
Gallery and Studio Hours:
Wednesday-Saturday 11am-6pm
Sunday 12-5pm
“Tiny Tropical Treasures” will showcase the artwork that I created while on a tropical island in Brazil this spring. I was chosen to be an Artist in Residence at Casa Na Ilha on the island of Ilhabela off Sao Paulo, Brazil. This is my second Artist in Residency in the past two years and I hope to make this a regular habit. I traveled through the island with my pens, watercolors and many sketchbooks. Some sketchbooks are handmade. Some are concertina folded. All are small. The beauty and culture of the island life have been carefully and creatively recorded. From the tropical gardens, the ocean, wildlife and a beautiful island home with my artist friends, you will enjoy Ilhabela Island vicariously through my Tiny Tropical Treasures exhibit.
The sketchbooks are creatively displayed in Gallery 5 so you can experience each day as I experienced it. Each day is a treasure to be revealed.
