Went to Town!

We learned the bus system today. We`re practically locals! We found some better bug lotion so the barrachudos (nasty mosquitoes) won`t like me so much. Seems to be working. We walked almost 4 miles by the beach and through town. Found a great place for lunch too. We will do that again soon so we can find the great art supply store. Do I NEED any more supplies? Well, maybe not, but it can`t hurt to look. Still working on the artwork. I`ll post as I finish things. You will just need to wait a little longer!  Enjoy these photos....

On the bus

A great tree. Look at those negative spaces or sky holes!

Beautiful beach.

Look up!

Drawing at lunch with Denise, Lynn and Terry. Who is missing? Me, but I am taking the photo. Sherry was not feeling well today. She`s much better now though.

More sketching under an old tree.

The fish sculpture.

HOME!

My bags are packed. I'm ready to go!

A few more hours to go until we leave! Here are just a few of the things I have packed in my suitcase.

Various pens and pencils I will use.
As I said. This is the BEST back pack, stool out there! My search is over.

The best supply bag. His Mei brought this back form Taiwan but you might be able to order online from Power One. Notice the 'locking system' I added? It should make me an inconvenient target. It will also slow me down getting supplies out!
Oh well.

To be continued.......

Artist in Residence, BRAZIL!

I am getting ready to be an Artist in Residence on a tropical island off the coast of Sao Paulo, Brazil! The island is called Ilhabela, also known as St. Sebastian Island. Here is the link if you want to see more: https://www.casanailha.org/the-island/   I will be staying in a lovely beach house, mid April to mid May, with 4 artist friends (a.k.a. A Bellas), Denise, Terry, Sherry, Lynn and another artist, whom we have yet to meet, named Jane. No Ron this time! I will miss him. If anyone lives near him, could you feed him once in awhile? Thanks.
My art supplies are packed. (first things first) I plan on creating small things so I was able to get plenty of supplies in a bag that doubles as my plein air stool and backpack.  I have officially stopped the search for the perfect one because this is it, a backpack, cooler stool by Samsonite. There are other brands that are pretty much the same if you can't find the hard to find Samsonite brand. Here's one. I did not photograph my supplies before I packed. I wish I had because I don't want to unpack them now. More than that, I don't want to second guess what I packed and redo it! Lots of thought went into it. I need to just move on and work with whatever I packed. I'll show you my supplies when I get there, how's that?
I have 30 days on the island to focus and draw and paint. In JUNE, I will exhibit all that I have accomplished in an exhibit at the Workhouse Arts Center in Gallery 5. It is Tiny Tropical Treasures, June 6 - July 7 with a Reception on June 9, 6:00-9:00 pm. But more about that and other things later....
