Painting at Villanueva de la Raho and Cargolade or Snail BBQ new pics!

Today we, the Laroquettes, painted at a beautiful lake surrounded by trees, mountains, sunshine, a perfect breeze, kayaks, stand up paddle boards. We could see the famous Canigou Mountain and the Albers. There were some beautiful paintings created and wonderful memories! After painting we went to a Cargolade; a traditional Cantalonian snail BBQ at Francoise's friends (and fellow artist's) home, Pierrot and Josie. Eliane and Allen, her husband were also there. Eliane is the 'president' of the Art Association in Laroque and is an amazing artist!  We helped to prepare the snails. A first for all of us! The taste was a special treat. All but one of us, and I won't mention who (D), tried them and enjoyed them!  Tradition says you have to stand with your wine and bread while eating them. A tradition we were happy to keep going. I have no idea if we can find snails like that in the US, but maybe we could try that at home! Perhaps for the Paint France Workshop in October? (date tbd) Along with the snails we had lamb chops and sausages and some more wine, cookies and grapes for dessert.   After some coffee, we toured Pierrot and Josie's home full of Pierot's and other artists' painting. A few of us were gifted original Pierrots! What a treat.  We extended an invitation to Eliane to bring her group of artists to the US so we can treat them to special painting experiences and gracious hosting!!!
