“Tiny Tropical Treasures” will showcase the artwork that I created while on a tropical island in Brazil this spring. I was chosen to be an Artist in Residence at Casa Na Ilha on the island of Ilhabela off Sao Paulo, Brazil. This is my second Artist in Residency in the past two years and I hope to make this a regular habit. I traveled through the island with my pens, watercolors and many sketchbooks. Some sketchbooks are handmade. Some are concertina folded. All are small. The beauty and culture of the island life have been carefully and creatively recorded. From the tropical gardens, the ocean, wildlife and a beautiful island home with my artist friends, you will enjoy Ilhabela Island vicariously through my Tiny Tropical Treasures exhibit.

The sketchbooks are creatively displayed in Gallery 5 so you can experience each day as I experienced it. Each day is a treasure to be revealed.

Celebrating a Birthday!

Today we went to lunch at a special coffee shop with great desserts to celebrate Denise`s Birthday! Her birthday is really on Saturday but we are making it last longer.  

So much to see and sketch and taste at Donna Bella!

We passed a mermaid on the way there. Since Jane`s art often includes mermaids, we needed to stop for a photo, of course.

What`s in our bags, you ask? We found the art store and it was open! It is no Plaza Art but we found some good pens.

Not as dramatic as some days, but still a beautiful sunset!

Went into town to draw.

Today we took the bus to Vila, a nice town with a beach and things to see and do. We stopped for lunch then drew in a shady park.

Here are Denise and Lynn sketching at lunch.

I used my Lamy pen with gold ink to draw St. Sebastian Church then used watercolor.

I added more to the Chicken House from the Santa Seiva Garden yesterday. Look who showed up!

We see these statues from the bus along the way. I want to walk among them one of these days. They depict the stations of the cross nd more.

Buses to Vila

We took two buses to get to a town called Vila. It had a beautiful blue and white Church, a museum, art galley, great shops, the ocean, beach, boats and more. We’ll go back!
